Please be sure to send notes when your "young scholar" is absent. If notes are not received in 72 hours, it becomes an unexcused absence and may result in truancy proceedings. Help us avoid this process from taking place by providing a note when your student returns.
Principal’s Message
Greetings and welcome to Carquinez Middle School for the 2010-2011 school year. Time flies when you are having fun and that is what we have had this past year. There have been a number of changes and that will continue during this year as we look to continue improving student achievement and making middle school a memorable experience for all students.
A few of the changes for the new year will include going to a block schedule with a focus on English and mathematics. All students will have increased time in these areas and will be assigned to teams so they are able to form positive relationships with teachers and vice versa. Being part of teams and in blocks will reduce the amount of time moving through hallways and give more time on task. There will be more electives, by grade level offered this year as well. We have a focus on technology and are moving to placing more computers in classrooms and a larger computer lab.
I invite you to volunteer whatever time you have available to help in the building. It may be in the office, attendance, library, or classrooms. I also invite you to become an active member of our PTSA. They have been very proactive in the past and will continue to do so in the future. It is a great way to be involved and assist with your young scholars middle school experience.
I am a firm believer that it takes all of us working together in a cooperative and collaborative manner to help our students be successful.
